Angola Maps

My ongoing research focuses on studying the history of cartography in Angola as part of understanding state formation, contemporary challenges of reconstruction and development, and their relations with different ways space is conceived, perceived and experienced (drawing on Lefebvre’s rubric).

This research involves compiling an inventory of maps of Angola (currently numbering over 1000) as well as references on cartography in Angola – please check back here for the reference lists, links, and library files. Some important work has been done under a previous Portuguese project on colonial cartography.

Please see this link for mapping resources for sources to find maps of Angola. See also maps that I have composed of Angola here.
